Privacy policy

La Wein is an app for finding places and events in Amman. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email hello@lawein.app.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never see or store your actual password.
- What you do in the app: places and events you save, events you mark as interested or going, and organizers you follow.
- What you add: events you submit (including any cover image, links and details you enter), places you suggest, and custom locations you save for your events.
- Organizer applications: if you apply to be listed as an organizer, the details on the form, including your own name and contact email. These are only seen by the La Wein team.
- Ticket and booking taps: when you tap a ticket or booking link, we record which link was tapped, and your account if you are signed in. We use this to understand which events people are interested in.
- How the app is used: which places and events are opened and from where in the app, taps on Directions, Call, Instagram and website links, and what is typed into search (including searches with no results). This is linked to your account if you are signed in. We use it to see what people are looking for and which places and events are popular.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, a push token for your phone so we can send them.
Your location
If you allow location access, the app uses it on your phone to show places near you and sort by distance. Your location is not sent to us or stored on our servers.
How we use it
- To run the app: your account, your saves, and the events and places you add.
- To review events and places before they go live, and to contact you about something you submitted.
- To send notifications you have turned on, such as updates to events you saved.
- To understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
We don't sell your information, and we don't show ads.
Who else is involved
We use a few services to run La Wein. They only process information so the app can work:
- Google Cloud hosts our servers, database and uploaded images. When you paste an Instagram link to add an event, Google Cloud Vision may read the text on the poster to fill in the date and time.
- Google Maps and Places provide maps and place details.
- Expo and Apple deliver push notifications.
- Vercel hosts our website and admin tools.
Tickets are sold by the organizer or by ticketing sites such as Tzkrti. When you tap a ticket link or pay an organizer by CliQ, that is between you and them, and their own privacy policy applies.
What other people can see
Events and places you submit are public once approved. Your name and email are never shown on them. An organizer's public page shows the organizer's name, Instagram and website, not the personal details of the person who applied.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Profile and tap Delete account. This permanently removes your account, saves, follows, notifications and push tokens. You can choose whether your upcoming events are deleted too or stay up. Past events stay listed, with nothing linking them to you. If you own an organizer page, it stays up and passes to your team, or to La Wein if you have no team.
You can also email hello@lawein.app to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to have it deleted.
Children
La Wein is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For bigger changes, we will also let you know in the app.
